You have to be seen in Toronto (or New York)

Up here in the Great White North, we writers may sometimes be under the illusion that we can have an impact from the boonies. We think we can start small and grow.
We don’t have to be in Toronto.
We may not have to live in the big smoke, but the longer I’m around the writing game, the more I think we need a presence there.
That’s where the action is, baby.
Whether it’s on-line impact or making the trek to bookstores and crime writing events, the beginning writer would be wise to budget some time and money for a certain amount of visibility in the shadow of the CN Tower.
In the States, my guess is the same holds true for New York.
